On August 12, 2020, Assam’s Health Minister, Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, launched the Assam Orunodoi Scheme. The scheme began on August 17, 2020, and the selection process started on October 2, 2020. The Assamese government has allocated a budget of ₹2800 crores for this program, which is expected to benefit nearly 17 lakh families. Under the scheme, eligible families with an annual income of less than ₹2 lakhs will receive ₹830 per month to help meet their needs.

This program aims to assist those facing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly housewives, by providing them with financial support to enhance their economic independence.

Objectives of Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2024

Benefits of Assam Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme 2024

Beneficiary Coverage: The scheme will benefit approximately 27.77 lakh eligible households in Assam.

Monthly Financial Support: Each beneficiary will receive ₹1,250 per month, delivered directly to their bank accounts on the 10th of every month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Breakdown of Support:

  • Medicine Expenses: ₹400 per family to cover healthcare needs.
  • Sugar Subsidy: ₹200 per family for a 50% subsidy on 4 kg of sugar.
  • Fruits & Vegetables: ₹150 per family to support the purchase of fruits and vegetables.
  • Essential Needs: ₹170 for other essential items.
  • Special Schemes: An additional ₹250 for those registered under the Deen Dayal Divyangjan Achoni and Indira Miri Sarbojanin Biswa Pension Achoni schemes.

Additional Benefit: The Assam Finance Minister announced an extra ₹150 per beneficiary, raising the total monthly amount to ₹1,400 starting from the 2023-24 financial year.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2024

  • The applicant must be a resident of Assam.
  • Only women aged 16 to 59 are eligible.
  • The family’s annual income must not exceed Rs 2 lakh.
  • Priority is given to disabled members, widows, and single women within the eligible age range.

Exclusions for Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2024

  • Families owning more than fifteen bighas of land.
  • Households with members who are government employees, doctors, engineers, architects, lawyers, or income taxpayers.
  • Families owning items like refrigerators, four-wheelers, or tractors are not eligible.

Note: These exclusions aim to ensure that the benefits of the Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme reach the most disadvantaged and deserving groups in Assam, promoting equity and women’s empowerment.

Application Process for Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2024

  1. Visit the official Assam Orunodoi Asoni Scheme website.
  2. Find and click the link to download the New Application Form.
  3. Print the application form after downloading.
  4. Fill in the required information, including your full name, Aadhaar number, age, address, and household income.
  5. Attach all necessary documents, such as a passport-sized photo, identity card, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, income proof, and residence certificate.
  6. Submit the completed application along with the documents to your nearest Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body (ULB) office.
  7. After submitting, you will receive an acknowledgment paper with a beneficiary number.

Orunodoi Scheme Implementation Structure

  • The Assam government’s finance department will oversee the Orunodoi initiative.
  • The scheme will be managed by the Secretary and Commissioner of the finance department.
  • The finance department will act as the state-level nodal agency for the scheme.
  • The Deputy Commissioner will handle the scheme’s implementation at the district level.
  • Monitoring committees will be set up at the district level.
  • “Orunodoi Sahayaks” will be selected in each district to assist applicants, with a fixed monthly salary of Rs 15,000.
  • Sahayaks will be hired for a two-month period.
  • The district-level monitoring committee will set the eligibility criteria for Orunodoi Sahayaks.
  • The Deputy Commissioner, along with the district-level monitoring committee, will select the Sahayaks after thoroughly reviewing the applications.

The Process to Verify the District-Wise List of the Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2024

  1. Visit the official Assam Orunodoi Scheme website.
  2. On the homepage, find and click the “View Status” link to access the district-wise beneficiary list.
  3. On the district-wise application status page, choose your district from a drop-down list or a map.
  4. After selecting your district, the list of Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme beneficiaries for that district will appear.
  5. To find your name, you can type your name or beneficiary number in the search field.
  6. If your name appears on the list, it means your application has been accepted, and you are eligible for the benefits.
  7. Additional details about your beneficiary status may also be available on the list.
